30 in 30 Day One

sold

I'm participating in Leslie Saeta's 30 in 30 challenge and already a day behind! But I guess I'll just finish on the 31st. I should end up with a lot of different paintings! I plan on doing some fall trees soon so stay tuned!:) This painting is from a photo I took in Davis, California. My daughter is going to school there so I've been able to spend lots of time there. It's an absolutely adorable town with just enough things going on to keep you busy. I think it's perfect, besides being a little expensive.

Yeah, you know, you made me go read about Davis. I haven't been there in years. The University is so highly thought of; my animals' current/new veterinarian is an alumni. When my young/healthy dog died with tragic/sudden circumstances about six years ago, I was referred to the U's grief (phone) hotline which I guess is staffed by veterinary students/interns...and they were so knowledgeable, empathetic and wonderful. They really helped me a lot at the time; I had been just devastated.

I know it gets darn hot in summer because they're something like 60 or 70 miles from the Pacific in Davis, no? Is it a straight shot to the ocean, like an hour or so, or do you have to go over mountain ranges?

That arboretum must be an oasis; you've made it look so lovely in the painting.

Haha! Hi Vicki! It's a wonderful school! It's now getting a lot more recognition for more than just vet related things. I see Davis on the news quite frequently for agriculture research. They also do a lot of brain research and are lucky to be connected to the Mind Institute which is the hub for autism research.
My daughter got in to UCLA also, and it was her first choice until she visited Davis. She instantly fell in love with the campus and the charming town. UCLA has beautiful campus but it's in the heart of major traffic! So glad I can go visit Davis instead. I love it!
