Point Vicente Palos Verdes Lighthouse

Point Vicente Warmth
11x14 oil on canvas

Here's my latest commissioned piece of Palos Verdes. I love painting this place so much because I was born here and lived in the area for 30 years! I was so lucky to grow up in such an amazing place and I honestly can't believe I'm back at the beach now! Not the Southbay but San Clemente. I really can't decide which place I like better. The Southbay will always remain my home though, and I'm always so honored when someone contacts me to paint my hometown! If you're in the area, stop by Kincaid's to see my 3 large paintings! They commissioned me a few years back and I believe they're opening up again. I know indoor dining isn't available but you could. probably sneak a peek!

If you would like to commission me to paint something for you my prices start at $300 for a small piece and for something larger it's about $1200. Prices vary slightly depending on the subject. (faces are a bit more) You can contact me at Jbboutique @ yahoo. com or my etsy shop to talk more!

Just added a new video of a little peek at my process. I am still learning about making videos but I'm getting a better! The painting isn't quite finished yet. I still need to work a bit in the middle but I think it's coming along! I'm happy with how it came out.

I feel this painting is me...my flowers, but with an abstract twist. I'd like to take the next one even more abstract. My favorite part of this painting is the background so maybe I can pull from that.

I've used both a palette and brush for this 30x40 inch oil on canvas
I will be posting it on Daily Paintworks soon. Thanks for looking!

We had such a nice walk at the pier and this little guy was so nice to pose for me. I think he wanted to come home with us...Anyway, I decided to paint him instead! I used a palette knife and a few different mediums to give it lots of interest and texture. I think he's cute. I hope you like him! I post a video on instagram if you want to check it out... Seagull video

Here's another seagull I did several years ago. It was a smaller canvas.

He sold pretty quick so the new one might go fast too if you're looking for something like it.

A Shift...reflecting on good and bad

Blu Belle
 By J Beaudet Z©

Hi guys! I'm trying to be more consistent with posting on here but it's hard to keep up! I shared my latest painting on Instagram and it sold it in 3 days! Thank you to my new patron in Charleston SC. Oh, how I would love to go there sometime! I follow a few galleries from there and tell my hubby how I wish I could be in one of them. He just looks at me and says, " Well, you have to ask them..." Yeah, I guess he's right. I have to go after what I want and can't expect them to come knocking. I'm @jbeaudet_art on Instagram. I'd love to see you there!

Speaking of going after what you want, I just started looking into a masterclass with Amira Rahim and can't wait to learn more! We started sharing art business information on Facebook back in 2013, and I'm happy to say she purchased one of my small works on paper! That was so nice! She has such an infectious personality it's hard not to feel motivated. I was excited to see she had moved to Socal and thought maybe we could meet someday but I just noticed she has almost 90,000 followers! I'm sure she's overwhelmed with her business and I doubt she remembers coming to me for advice about a few things. That was back when my art showed up in google first page...I know I can get there again! I plan on learning what I can from her instagram  business wisdom. I love her art but am afraid if I learn from her that my art may start to look like hers...not that I wouldn't like that, but I do want to be unique and recognized as J Beaudet Z. haha

Here's the piece she bought! It was 5 years ago, while I was doing a 30 day challenge. Leslie Saeta did such a great job with that! I wish she was still hosting those!

It was a 5x7 inch or maybe even smaller. I thought it was pretty cute. I feel like at that time, I was ready for a SHIFT. I was evolving and had more motivation than ever. I was selling every piece before I could get the next one loaded! I had people excited and following me, which made me want to paint more. It's amazing what encouragement does. This was back when my mom had stage 4 breast cancer (thank God she's in remission now and doing great!). We went on a trip to Kauai to celebrate life in March 2016...when I returned I walked into my house with my suitcase and noticed the washing machine open and the light left on. My husband wasn't home and would not have left the light on so I went in there to check. Inside the washer were women's gym close and underwear. It wasn't mine. That was the moment my life fell apart. The hurt and betrayal was too much for me. I had to move everything out in one day (while she was living in my home! Evil comes in all forms and she called herself a Christian. I found her bible next to his bed.) Moved in with my brother in Ventura and the online dating adventure began! I could write a book...I should....I lost my dad 2 years ago and that set me in a funk for longer than I would have thought. Thank God I found my love. He's everything I could have dreamed for and more.

This was 5 years ago, and looking back I see what happened with my art and why I got off track. It hurts because it's my dream to be able to survive off only my art income, and that's where I was headed. But today is a new day a new beginning a fresh start! I am FOCUSED now and the silver lining of this virus is I now have the time again! So it's all coming back...creating, sharing, selling. That's the way to do it! I could never figure out how it would happen for me and what I was doing right. I finally realize, it's me. It's my passion. It's wanting something so bad you just don't give up no matter what. I'm more ready than ever!

I fell like my art needs a fresh change. I was going that way 5 years ago and I know I can't pick up from the now. I need to start fresh, while taking all of my knowledge Ive learned over the last 11 years...actually more like 45 years. Geez! Yeah, I was an artist from the beginning. It's everything I am.

New floral painting for the New Year!

available on Etsy

Starting FRESH! Here's my first painting for 2021! I used both a brush and palette knife for this one. I love all the beautiful texture and especially this color combo. Peach and graying green look so nice together.

I hope you enjoy!

Merry Christmas from J Beaudet Studios

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas red cabin painting by J Beaudet z

Hi! I want to wish you a Merry Christmas! I hope you have a wonderful day! I'm alone today, until tonight. My hubby had to take a temporary chef job while looking for something permanent. We are planning to pop over to my mom's tomorrow but only outside. My daughter and sister will stop by too, so I'm really looking forward to that. I've been here alone, all week! We're trying to limit our time with others and I'm home from work so it's just me and my studio. I'm getting a lot of computer work done and am just finishing up a commission. I had a request for a smaller version of the last one.

Not the greatest photo. It was dark when I finished but I think I did a pretty good job painting a new one, just smaller. It still has the energy and loose quality. Now, on to the next. One nice thing about being home from work is I'm devoting my time to my art business again. I just need to paint and stop dwelling on my name or my Facebook reach. What happened on there!? It's like I got completely shut off. Was it something I said?

Anyway, back to Christmas cheer! Maybe some eggnog...😏 Cheers!

Same artist New Name! Formerly Jennifer Beaudet - Artist Whose Passion Kept Her Going now Jen Beaudet Z

Field of Flowers oil painting J Beaudet Studios

Artpromotivate: Jennifer Beaudet - Artist Whose Passion Kept Her Going: Spotlight on California, USA artist Jennifer Beaudet, featuring Modern Impressionist paintings.

Hey guys! I wanted to share this interview I did for Artpromotivate. 2013. It shares a little bit about my inspiration, education, and my process. I was going by Jennifer Beaudet then, because...well...that was my name. I have recently been trying separate myself from another oil painter with the same name. I would have used my middle name but she beat me to it! And it turns out we have the same middle name too! It's enough to make you crazy. It wouldn't bother me except her website comes up when I do a search for my name. All my paintings come up, but I'd kind of like this website to come up first since I've been at this since 2009. So...since I just got married in September 2020, I figured it's a good time for change. Previously, I had been signing my work J Beaudet, but from now on it will be J Beaudet Z. Hopefully you will not be confused. I'm still going by Jen Beaudet but now there's a Z at the end, for Zondervan...my new Dutch hubby.

Anyway, I'm so happy with my new name and hope this works to separate myself from the rest! After racking my brain, trying to come up with something that makes me different, I realized I'm a left-handed artist! Only 10% of the population is left handed, so I think that makes me kind of unique. It's funny, but losing my name felt like a loss of my identity! Like identity theft. It's a weird feeling. I had to search for who I am all over again. I was Jennifer Beaudet for 30 years and J Beaudet, the artist, since I was in college. The fact we share the same middle name is just unreal! Not that it matters, because you can't hear the pronunciation, but I say it "Boday" like Monet, she says Beaudet like "debt" (sorry, I couldn't think of another example). So how we differ is, I'm left handed and pronounce it Boday, I'm from California and I'm older....(by only 2 years, but still) Haha! So now, I'm moving on...New year, new name...

J Beaudet Zondervan (the cool thing is it's Dutch like Van Gogh!

I'd love to hear other artist's thoughts about this. Has anything similar happen to you? Or maybe you have another suggestion? You can email me @ jbboutique@yahoo.com or comment here

New loose expressive floral paintings by J Beaudet Z

New loose expressive floral paintings by J Beaudet Z

30x40 inch acrylic on canvas

I am loving this one so much. The photo got a little washed out on the left from the sun but you can see the movement and energy this one has. I think the acrylics have an oil paint feel to them. I actually like how it started out but I needed to add yellow for my client. I'm definitely going to explore more like this.
It reminds me of some of my earlier work but large. It feels great to get back to my expressive paintings! I may have been having an artist's block caused my my dad passing away and then the virus but I think I past that! Whew! If anything good came out of this third shutdown, at least I found my voice as an artist again.

Have you found new passions or maybe a renewed passion? How have you been coping? I'm in California so you might know we're shutdown again and I'm a hairstylist, so that means I'm home for a few weeks. It's frustrating, but I totally understand and am all for getting this under control. My daughter is an RN and has definitely seen the cases skyrocket, recently. I worry about her. I also worry about my sister who is also an RN. We're staying away from my mom and step dad but it's pretty hard not to see them. I feel so bad for people who are alone right now. I'm so fortunate to have someone to spend my quarantined days with.

I plan on posting more the next few weeks and painting some more juicy, loose, and yummy paintings!

Here's a few older paintings that have the same feel...Most are much smaller. All have sold but I will be offering some new ones soon!

Jennifer Beaudet on Youtube!

Here's a lovely video of my paintings created by Lee Downs of AAA on Facebook. Check it out!

I'm home again (lockdown)...so I'm going to focus on my art. I just finished a house portrait for a repeat customer. Actually, it's almost finished...just have to add some purple flowers in the front. I think the pink tree came out pretty nice and it make me want to paint some more trees.

I have a lot of people painting my woman in red "The Night Approaches" Some people contact me to share their copy and I love seeing them but sometimes I just stumble across them on Pinterest. I wish I could set up a way that people can share their copies in one spot.

Have you tried it? Or do you have any ideas on how to make a sharing spot?

New paintings of San Clemente California by Jen Beaudet Zondervan

I'm working on loosening up...once again. I want my paintings to be more fresh and clean. I love working with a palette knife, but sometimes I get a little too much texture.

The tree painting is inspired from a walk in Rancho San Clemente. It was during quarantine and everything was so amazingly beautiful that day. I think it was still March.

This one is not finished but you can see where it's going. It's San Clemente, California at my favorite beach called Calafia. I still have to add the railroad crossing in this one. I thought about not adding it but anyone that knows the area might wonder. I think this spot is memorable because of the palm trees lined up. I love it because of all the beautiful Bougainvillea everywhere. It's amazing how it blooms all year round (or at least it seems to). Anyway, I'm still working on it and may add some clouds.
Both will be available in my etsy shop soon but feel free to contact me if you're interested.

Love my new oil painting. Jennifer painted this for me using a picture I took in Venice and it looks even better then I expected. This is the third oil painting I’ve ordered from Jennifer and probably won’t be the last.
