Original Painting of Vintage inspired French Woman

sold

Here's the second in my new series of vintage inspired women. I used both a brush and palette knife for this modern impressionist painting. I called it Attente, as I imagine her anxiously waiting for her date arrive.   It's available on Etsy. Thanks for looking, I hope you like it! If you haven't already, I love for you to join me on Facebook. I like to post my lasted painting on there to get feedback before I list them.

The model is Nicole, this very cool style blogger from New York. Her blog, Running in Wedges, features fashion photos of Nicole, taken by her amazing photographer You can find her blog here. http://www.nicolealyse.com.

A little bit of purple...

being revised

This was a little different for me because of the odd size of canvas. It's 18x36 inches so it's pretty long. It's hard to see the details here so I've added some close ups on my Etsy listing here. I used a palette knife for most of it and a brush to fill in small areas and soften a few things. The grass in the foreground is showing up the wrong color. It's a little more yellow green instead of that brown color. This one is definitely for a purple lover!

Looking for Spring Blooms...

sold

I can't wait for Spring so painted these to help. I used a palette knife for this one and realized I really like the texture and depth and that loose feeling I'm after. I'm working on a floral series all done with a knife. They are different sizes but all of beautiful flowers. Did I ever tell you I was a floral designer for a while? I love flowers! I only wish I could grow them! I'll never give up trying.

If you've been following me through the years you know my daughter is away at college and that it was a very difficult time for me getting used to her not being around. I go through a mini empty nest every time she comes home for break then leaves again. Now she has a boyfriend and is even further away from me and so so busy. I know she's grown now but I still think of her as my little girl.

This series I'm working on is a reflection of what I'm going through and I will call it Bloom, referring to my daughter blooming into the beautiful girl she has become and of her mother
blooming into her new life. I'm still struggling with the later, trying to define what exactly that is, but I'm moving in the right direction.

Misty Hanalei Bay

no longer available
I just finished this one for another workshop from Richard Robinson. I'm really enjoying doing his workshops and am learning new techniques! I also started using walnut oil instead of linseed oil. Walnut oil is non toxic so I love that! The workshop focused on little figures in landscapes being made with simple brush strokes.

If you've ever been to Kauai you know how misty it can get over on the North side of the island. It doesn't matter whether it's rainy or sunny, though...it's always magical.

I've been selling a few paintings and prints these last few weeks. I hope to keep up this momentum
in the coming new year!
For the new year I plan on keeping up with the workshops and
getting in some more galleries and boutiques, but I also want to get back to doing more paintings like I was doing when I started. Think more floral still lives with a whimsy feel (and more watercolors Vicki). I noticed I've been getting away from florals and whimsy feel. I guess the workshop and comparing my work to other's is what's happening and while it's good to improve my skills I don't want to lose my expressive touch, which is where I started. I'm working on another Venice, Italy piece right now and am conscious of this thought. I think it's looking a little Monet like.
But you'll have to tell me what you think!

Peonies!

please click here to view on Etsy

I've done this little painting several times for custom orders. I recently did one for an order and at the same time painted this painting. I had never completed two paintings at once.
I liked how I didn't have any leftover paint. It also helped keep the colors similar.
The background and jug is a little washed out in this photo.

I haven't had a chance to work on my cloud paintings yet but plan on getting to those
and my piece for the gallery this weekend. Christmas time is coming soon and I want to offer some small gifts at a local shop. I just have to come up with some ideas. Do you think art is something
people buy as gifts or is it more a personal item?

Hope you have a great weekend!

First Sunset

no longer available

This study of a sunset in San Clemente was done as one of the weekly challenges on Daily Paintworks. I'm donating this painting to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy. The challenge was to paint the sky, which seems easy enough but I have some things to learn yet. I'm taking a workshop from Richard Robinson and this month is dedicated to painting clouds. Just what I needed. I was fortunate enough to have him choose my Hawaii painting (see earlier post below) for his critique last month. I learned a lot from it and am looking forward to many more workshops. I'm still going to post photos of my paintings in the local gallery but haven't gotten to that yet. I'll be getting another piece in another gallery this month. Stay tuned...
Have a great weekend!

New Vintage Lady Painting

sold

It's been awhile since I've painted a vintage lady. This piece was done for last weeks challenge on DPW, "paint your undies".  This was fun to do. I'm going to have to retake the photo though because some of the details got a little washed out, such as the table.

Thanks for your visit and your comments!

Kauai!

in private collection

Kauai is one of my favorite islands in Hawaii. I really love them all but I've been to Kauai three times now and never get tired of it. It's everything I think of when I think of paradise.
I took this photo a few years back and just found it when looking for another. It's a beach called Salt Pond Beach Park. I remember we almost had the whole beach to ourselves.
It was magical, just like every day is in Kauai.

New Figure Painting...

Painting by Jen Beaudet Zondervan born 1970 California
This is my latest impressionist oil painting. For now it;s going to be titled something like Girl Sitting. Any suggestions are welcome! I'll have it listed on Etsy later this afternoon but was hoping to get a little feedback before I did. Your comments are always appreciated!

Meandering Colors

Click to Bid in Auction
This is a piece I did for a challenge on DailyPaintWorks. I think I'd like to try something like this in a larger format. I have so many photos of landscapes that are nothing special but I think would make nice paintings. The great thing about art is you can add whatever you want!

available on etsy

Roses, lemons, and peonies

These are my latest creations. They are both 6x6 inch with deep sides that are
painted all the way around.

I like how they stand on their own...no framing needed:)
